Saint-Simon Politician
6 March 2010
Workshop organised by the Saint-Simon Society.
Given that his Memoirs provide the most fascinating account of the final years of the reign of Louis XIV and of the Regency, the author that became Saint-Simon overshadows the role he once played. The workshop organised by the Saint-Simon Society sets out to assess his political role before and after the death of Louis XIV. To portray the adviser and minister, historians and specialists in literary history will combine their knowledge of the Court society and his work to deal with the factions, finances, relations with the provinces and reforms together. Their dialogue will provide us with greater knowledge of the memoirs writer in his time and understanding of his work.
