The Passport

The key to 350 years of history

To discover the Versailles Estate in all its glory, the Passport gives you admission to all the Palace tours : grounds, Trianon Palaces and Marie-Antoinette's Estate. Grandes Eaux musicales (from april to october), jardins musicaux and exhibitions are also included.

NB: For the tour of the Palace, an audio-guide in 10 languages is included in the price of the ticket. The audio-guide is available for children from 8 years old only.

- Tour of the Palace of Versailles , ticket valid all day, and of the Academy of equestrian arts, ticket valid from 10:00 to 12:00 (last admission 11.30 am)
Price: €19 (valid on thursdays and some tuesdays*)

Twin-ticket : Tour of the Palace and Matinales des Ecuyers
Tour of the Palace of Versailles, the ticket is valid all day and access at 11:15 to the Matinales des Ecuyers (dressage sessions with the riders and their horses presented to the public to the sound of baroque music – followed by a tour of the Stables). Every dressage session last around 45 mins)

The Academy of equestrian arts is located in the Grand Stable of the Palace.

The visit includs the exhibition and an audio-guide of the Palace in 10 languages

The visit of the stable during the Matinales des Ecuyers can be full.

Grandes Eaux musicales

Set off to explore the fountains with their jets of water and the wooded groves to the rhythm of the music. The paths stretch in several directions. Whichever you choose, you will be able to admire the Garden's many masterpieces. Keen gardeners and anyone with time to spare can penetrate as far as the most secret places in the garden.

Dates and times:
Saturdays and Sundays from 3 April to 31 October 2010, with the fountains working from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3.30 to 5 p.m.

Extra dates:
Friday 2 April, Thursday 13 May and Wednesday 14 July, as well as Tuesdays between 25 May and 29 June 2010.

Note, the opening times are different on Tuesdays:
Fountains working from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2.30 to 4 p.m.

Throughout the summer, as an attractive way of enjoying the gardens, the groves and protected areas of the château park will be open on certain Tuesdays from May to September for a musical stroll: a moment of discovery in the heart of Le Nôtre's French classical gardens.

Grandes eaux nocturnes

As night falls, the Louis XIV Royal Garden becomes a stunning audiovisual spectacle. Visitors discover pools and groves filled with water and light, decorated with glowing colour. This year, once again, lighting and set designers will take over the gardens to make them glitter with a thousand lights and dazzling installations: from the ghost ship of the Sun King, Louis XIV's flagship, which will emerge from the waters, to the lasers that will criss-cross the sky and the spectacular defeat of the giant Encelade.

The Sérénade

The Sérénade

Just before the Grandes Eaux Nocturnes (Nocturnal Fountain Show), relive the flamboyancy of the reign of Louis XIV to the sound of a serenade. The musicians and dancers of the L'Eclat des Muses - Cie Christine Bayle dance company, await you in the Hall of Mirrors for the round dance of a French ball. As the last rays of the sun set, cross the palace and join the dance under the gold and reflections of the Hall of Mirrors!

Saturday 19 and 26 June, 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 July, 7, 14, 21 and 28 August 2010, two 50 minute representations at 6.45 pm and 7.45 pm..

The daily guided tours, in French and English, given by lecturers from the national museums, will admit you to the private apartments of the kings, queens and high-ranking nobles.
As soon as you arrive, go to the Palace information point to find out the programme for the day (from 9 am to 3.15 pm, subject to availability).

Themed tours are given in French, by lecturers from the national museums and from time to time by curators and artisans d’art.
Throughout the year, a huge choice of tours is available with new themes to show you the techniques, historical days, entertainments and music.
